ELLIOTT GOES BACK TO BACK

Timmonsville SC (October 23rd, 2011) –When Michael Elliott shows up to the Florence Motor Speedway, you can always expect him to contend for the win.  This past Saturday night, he had to contend with Strom Altman, but Elliott was able to get the win, his second in two weeks.  Strom Altman started from the pole and lead the first thirty or so laps, but on a restart Michael Elliott was able to get by Altman on the high side.  A late race caution would set up a green-white-checkered finish that Elliott would survive.  Altman, Jamie Weatherford, Christian PaHud, and Ronnie Daniels rounded out the top five.

Cody Kelley started from the pole in the Super Stock feature and dominated the thirty lap race.  Kelley had to deal with Michael Elliott on several restarts, but was able to pull away from the win.  Wayne Locklair, Will Hutson, Taylor June and TJ White rounded out the top five.

Wayne Locklair has dominated the Street Stock division in recent weeks, and continued that on Saturday night, leading all thirty laps in route to victory.  Austin Teal, Brian Tadlock, Robert Flipiak and Danny Minningham arounded out the top five.

Cruzer Bruzer division has had some exciting finishes this year, but nothing will top the finish from Saturday night.  Brad Kelly and Justin Altman were battling for the lead on the final lap when the two entered turn three.  They both spun off the track.  The first guy to come back on the track an cross the line would win.  Kelly was able to do so first and took the win.  Altman, Dave Hutchinson, JR Small and Robert Poston rounded out the top five.

Racing continues next Saturday night, but it will also be a special night.  Everybody is encouraged to dress up in their favorite Halloween costume.

Elliott Multiple Winner at FMS

Timmonsville SC (October 16th, 2011) – You might have missed some good racin' at Florence Motor Speedway Sat. 0ct. 15 so I'll break it down for you. Top qualifiers in the Limited Late Model Series were, Michael Elliott with a fast lap of 18.198 and Robert Powell with 18.217. Elliott does his impression of the "Fast and Furious" grabs the lead at the drop of the green and races to the checkers; that is, after a first lap crash that nearly took out half of the19-car field. Once they regrouped the race was on to catch Elliott. Averitt Lucas would be the only driver to hang with Elliott for the whole fifty. The action was intense from third back for the feature. Strom Altman Sr. motored his way back from the rear after restart to finish third. Clay Thomas was a steady fourth place while holding off a hot and cold Robert Powell in fifth.

The Super Stock feature win was collected by, none other than, Michael Elliott who had to work to get the win. It was almost a marathon of a race with the lead changing and racecar banging. Casey Kelley would finish second after all and Ken McClary would finish third. Cody Kelley and Troy North would finish fourth and fifth respective. It was heck of a race!

In the Stock 4 feature, Kevin Jackson took home another win while Russ Turner Jr. settled for second after leading portions of the race. Emory Herring, Toby Milligan, and Andy Herring were third through fifth after they sorted out their finishing order.

The Street Stock win went to Wayne Locklair with Austin Teal finishing his best to date in second. Tyler Price would lead some of the feature and then finish third. Don Case and Danny Minnehan made for fourth and fifth.

Josh Dean collected the win in the Shriner Bomber feature and Randy Hall was theCruzer Bruzer feature winner.

Hot racing action continues every Saturday in October and the Carolina Batteries Fall Classic in Nov. 4, 5, and 6th. For current racing information and other track facts, visit the Florence Motor Speedway website www.florencemotorspeedway.com or phone the track at (843) 209-4768.

WEATHERFORD WINS CAUTION FILED RACE

Timmonsville, SC (August 21st, 2011) –The action on track Saturday night was hot and heavy as the Limited Late Models put on another show that people will be talking about for weeks to come.  Michael Elliott started from the pole after winning last week, and he looked to be the dominate car of the night.  A late race penalty that sent him and Austin Leitner to the back of the field would allow Jamie Weatherford and Rudy Branham to take the top spot.  Leitner worked his way back to the front, taking the lead late in the race.  A late race restart show Weatherford and Leitner battle side by side for the victory.  Weatherford would pull ahead coming out of turn four on the final lap to take the victory.  Leitner, Michael Elliott, Holly Jackson, and Rudy Branham rounded out the top five.

Kevin Jackson won the Stock 4 Cylinder race after battling with Emory Herring Russ Turner Jr. and Leon Vinson for a majority of the race.  Jackson would claim the top spot late in the race and never look back.  Russ Turner Jr, Leon Vinson, Toby Milligan, and Emory Herring would round out the top five.

Wayne Locklair would start on the pole for the Super Stock and lead the first handful of laps, but a charge from Cody Kelly and Michael Elliott would bring the top three all racing for the top spot.  Kelly and Elliott would take their shot at Locklair, but Locklair wasn’t having any of it.  Finally, Locklair’s tires were fading and Kelly and Elliott moved around him for the top spot.  Elliott would then get by Kelly for the lead and cruise to victory.  In the tech shed, Elliott and his team would refuse to tear down and would be thrown out giving the win to Cody Kelly.

ELLIOTT CRUISES TO VICTORY!

Timmonsville SC (August 13th, 2011) –Ronnie Daniels was the first car to hit the track for qualifying and layed down the fastest lap of the night to claim the pole.  Daniels would lead the field to green, but he wouldn't hold the lead long as Michael Elliott would take the top spot in turn one.  Eight laps later, Daniels was along side Elliott battling for the top spot.  Daniels was on the bottom, Elliott was on the top. Elliott would keep the lead and pull away.  Timmy Flowers would bring the first caution out on lap sixteen as he went for a spin in turn four.  Elliott would remain in the lead on the restart with Rudy Branham getting around Ronnie Daniels.  Flowers would bring the caution out again on lap twenty one.  On the restart, Branham would get around Elliott for the top spot.  Elliott fell into the clutches of Ronnie Daniels, and the two waged a battle for multiple laps.  Elliott would clear Daniels and go after Branham for the lead.  The two would battle side by side at the halfway mark of the race, swapping the lead back and forth.  Clay Thomas would bring out the third caution when he stopped in turn two with twenty four laps to go.  Branham would miss a shift on the restart allowing Elliott to regain the lead.  The final twenty four laps would be run with caution allowing Elliott to pull away and take the win.  Branham would come home second, Christian PaHud, Ronnie Daniels and Holly Jackson would round out the top five.

Emory Herring won the first Stock 4 Cylinder heat race and started from the pole.  Herring would pull away from the field when the green flag flew, but the field was brought back together when Toby Milligan spun in turn four on lap ten.  Freeze would give Herring a run for his money following the caution.  Leon Vinson would bring out the second caution.  Herring and Freeze would stage another great battle for the win along with Toby Milligan and Russ Turner Jr. battling for third.  With five to go, Freeze would pull to the inside of Herring to battle for the top spot.  The two would remain side by side for the final five laps.  Freeze would get loose off turn four giving the win to Emory Herring.  Randy Freeze, Toby Milligan, Wayne Disher and Leon Vinson would round out the top five.

Stacy Matthews would win the heat race for the Super Stocks giving him the pole position for the thirty lap feature.  On the start, Matthews and Casey Kelly would check out on the field.  The race was between them while everybody else ran nose to tail for the third spot.  Todd Amerson would bring the first caution out when he dropped some fluid on the frontstretch.  On the restart, Matthews would have problems and pull to the pits, he was done for the night.  This gave Casey Kelly the top spot and he cruised to his first Super Stock feature win.  Reese Tadlock, Gene McDonald and William Hutson would round out the top four.

Wind, Hail & Rain Postpones Racing at Florence Motor Speedway

Timmonsville SC (Sunday, April 10, 2011) – This past Saturday, April 9th heavy winds, hail and rain interrupted racing at Florence Motor Speedway.  With the qualification times set for the Late Model feature, the Stock 4 Cylinder Division took to the track for heat races.  While the on track action was heating up, cool winds moved in and the rain began to fall just as Russ Turner Jr. took the checkered flag.  With the Shriner Bombers lined up and ready to race, the rain began to pour even harder.  The downpour and cool track temperatures were too much for the competition to contend with as water soaked the track and infield, to include the kart track.  The races were called due to the weather and will resume next week (April 16th), so if you have your ticket sub you won’t be charged admission.

General Admission: ADULTS (13 and up) $10.00 CHILDREN (8 to 12 years) $5.00 CHILDREN (7 and under) FREE.  Special Events: $12 and up and GROUP DISCOUNTS for 25 or more fans.  These ticket prices are for all qualifying races and five (5) feature races at the asphalt track and plus the action of the FMS Kart track.  Racing programs begin at 7 pm.
